Nairobi National Park

IMG_0198What is so amazing about Nairobi National Park is how close it is to the city!  It is quite surreal taking photographs of giraffes and rhinos in the wild with city buildings in the background.  What foresight it was to have set aside this precious land for the wildlife.

I was extremely fortunate to have been invited by Ruth and her partner Sterling to visit the park.  Ruth teaches music at Brookhouse and is a wonderfully positive and enthusiastic person who is good for the soul. Ruth and Sterling love the park and visit often. We drove in their Landrover and I sat on the roof most of the way.  We were so lucky to see rhino, giraffe, buffalo, ostrich, cranes, storks, many other beautiful birds, gazelles, impala, zebra, eland, hartebeast, baboon and one very large python.
How lucky for us!   It was truely a wonderful outing and followed up later with much fun at Purdey Arms – set in beautiful gardens in Karen.  (Yep – I am staying in Karen  :-).  My photos are not great as I do not have a tele lens.  But am very happy to have seen these beautiful animals in the wild.
