The rest of the week spent with the Botero family on Contadora Island was truly wonderful. The family really enjoyed my little evening video reviews of the day, so I continued to make them. Continue reading

Dive!
Unbelievable – I actually went for a dive! No – I actually went for TWO dives! If you know me, then you know this is a big deal and I owe it to a very patient dive instructor who managed to instil confidence and not only get me in the water, but also keep me under the water! A big shout out to Guillermo Schuttke from Coreal Dreams on Contadora Island! My first dive in 9 years after chickening out of many. Continue reading

Bartolome Island: Pearl Archipelago, Panama
We were somewhat determined to visit the beach we were asked to leave yesterday. There were no “Survivors” or crew in sight so we thought there would be no problem for us to sneak on to the “Tribal Council” – however we did not reckon with the current. Hah! Stumped again!

Isla Contadora: Day 1
Contadora island is part of the Pearl Archipelago (The Pearl Islands) which are a group of many islands about 1 1/2 hour boat ride from Panama City. The Panama Canal
The Panama Canal is not as big as I expected it. I should clarify that. The canal is 77km long from the Caribbean to the Pacific Ocean, but the Miraflores lock area is not as big as I expected it. It is very narrow, with only one passage each way made up of a system of 2 lock chambers that are 35.5m wide taking 2 steps up (or down). Continue reading
Arriving in Panama
Arriving in Panama was quite exciting. I never dreamed I would have the opportunity! Flying in was amazing and I could clearly see the 3 km Amador Causeway with the four connecting islands: Naos, Culebra, Perico & Flamenco. Continue reading
