Manuel Antonio & sloths

IMG_0626I took a three hour bus trip to Manuel Antonio on several people’s advice, to visit the national park there.  Firstly I stayed at a wonderful  hostel called was Hostel Serena Vista.  When I arrived I was so pleasantly surprised at the location as well as the super friendly staff. I also really enjoyed chatting to Sonia, the owner, and her partner. The verandah has amazing views and the perfect place to watch the sunset. I would have stayed longer if I did not have commitments, and I would go back there in a heartbeat. Continue reading

La Paz Waterfall Gardens: Costa Rica

IMG_1302The La Paz Waterfall Gardens, not far from the Poas Volcano, are really worth a visit, despite being expensive.  Not only do you get to see the most amazing waterfalls, the place also houses many animals confiscated from the pet trade that for some reason or other cannot be released.  Continue reading

Galapagos: summary video

It is difficult to write about my trip to the Galapagos – it was like a sensory overload.  Everyday seemed more amazing than the previous. I was so fortunate to get a place on the Seaman II at the last minute.

This is my first time videoing and taking photos underwater.  I got better at it each day as my aim improved, as it was impossible to see on the camera what I was shooting. Coming back on the boat it was always a surprise to upload my photos.

I took so many photographs and video clips – how many? I am too embarrassed to say, however I have whittled them down to a selection for this video that is just under 8 minutes long.  I can’t watch it without tearing up……..  I hope you enjoy it.  Please leave me a comment…………

To do it justice please watch in full screen  🙂

Galapagos: day 1 with sleepy sea lions

After a 29 hour bus journey, I arrived in Guayquil, Ecuador. I was nervous crossing the border as I had overstayed. I had checked the Oz website on visas to Ecuador and it said 180 days. However I did not notice I was only given 90 days. I need not have worried – the border people were all friendly.  I paid $1US per day past my visa.  Actually 90 days should have been plenty but I ended up staying longer and had to literally drag myself away. Peru is amazing, plus I made some wonderful friends who I am really going to miss. I saw a lot and experienced a lot and there is still much to see and do! (I will have to come back!)
